Immersive Unicorn, 2021
"The Unicorn Rests in a Garden," also called "The Unicorn in Captivity," is the best-known of the Unicorn Tapestries.
Inspired by a series of seven tapestries made in the South Netherlands around 1495 - 1505 known as The Unicorn Tapestries or Hunt of the Unicorn, Immersive Unicorn is a collection of idyllic vignettes depicting lush alien landscapes. Immersive Unicorn is part self-portrait, and part escapism.
The illustrations were created using Posca markers and India ink on cold pressed illustration board and paper. The work debuted at Curated Chronicles, a small art bookstore owned by Melanie Walden formerly located in Downtown Upland, CA. At the opening of the exhibit, several digitally woven tapestries were also presented alongside the original works. Nearly all artworks from this collection have been re-exhibited throughout downtown Ontario at CASA Pitzer and Dragon Fruit Skincare, and several works have been sold from this collection.
